2. HOW DID INNOVATIONS LEAD TO REVOLUTIONARY CHANGES?
Starter: Innovations Past & Present!
You have each been given a card with either a modern day or a more historical image of an invention. Your first job is to find your partner who has a similar object. No as a pair Move around the room and find connections with other inventions. Consider the following questions:
Main Activity: Britain's Got Talent! It is 1875 and Queen Victoria needs your help! The Queen and her trusted assistant are planning to host Britain’s Got Talent. She knows that Britain has the greatest inventors in the world. But which inventor is the greatest? Who’s invention impacted on the most people? Who has done most for their country? Part 1: What did these inventors famous for? You will see a list of names and images of inventors on the board. It is a race against the clock to develop a list of what each of these individual invented. Part 2: The Pitch Each group has been allocated one of the finalists of Britain’s Got Talent 1875 by choosing an inventor card at random. You have to prepare a three minute persuasive pitch for the judges of Britain’s Got Talent to convince them that your inventor/individual had a greater significance and impact on society than the other contestants. You should think how could they use persuasive language to convince others that their individual is the best? To support you with this task there are the below resources.
When you write their pitch they should be thinking about presenting evidence to demonstrate the SIGNIFICANCE of each inventor/invention. In order to achieve this then need to discuss the following:

Part 3: The Judgement
As each team makes their case for different inventors and why they should win Britains Got Talent, you should make a judgement about who was the was the most SIGNIFICANT by completing the score sheet. Once you have heard from each group and using this score sheet you need to write down who they feel was the most significant inventor and why? If time this can be done for top three inventors.

Plenary: Concept Review
Review the concepts of this unit again (Change, Innovation & Revolution) and not down how your understanding has changed on these three since the start of the unit.

- Think: on their own decide who you think should win Britain’s Got Talent.
- Pair: Then discuss in pairs and reach a joint decision on who deserves to win.
- Square: In 4s they decide who should win before choosing a spokesperson for their group who will tell the rest of the class who you think should win and why.
